PIP Consultants
  • Experienced fundraising professionals with a minimum of 5 years in the field
  • Trained by PIP board members
  • Follow a structured curriculum
  • Submit periodic reports to the PIP Executive Director

PIP Consultants
  • PIP pays 100 hours of consulting services
  • Consultant donates 50 pro bono hours
  • At end of 10-month consultancy, NPO has received a total of 150 hours
  • NPO saves up to 94% of open market pricing for fund raising consulting services

How the Process Works
  • PIP consultant prepares 10-month action plan, assigns specific tasks & timelines:
    • Includes tasks for Staff, Board, Committees & Consultant
    • Provides framework for short-, mid-, & long-term goals
  • Assessment Instrument repeated in 10 months:
    • Determine progress
    • Identify problem areas that still need work
  • PIP consultant develops 12-month work plan
  • Third assessment administered after 6           months

Participation Criteria
  • Minimum of 3 years continuous operation
  • NJ Certificate of Incorporation & written By Laws
  • Currently qualified by IRS to receive charitable contributions & a Federal EIN
  • Currently registered with State of NJ Charitable Registration Office

Participation Criteria
  • Board-approved annual operating budget, IRS 990 form and/or annual audited financial statement
  • At least 6 official members on Board of Directors
  • Minimum 4 Board meetings each year
  • 1 full-time professional staff member & equivalent of one full-time administrative/ program staff person and/or one support staff person

Responsibilities of Organizations Selected
  • Provide “point” persons
  • Participate in the Fundraising Capacity Assessment
  • Hold Board meeting to discuss Fundraising Capacity Assessment
  • Pass a resolution concerning PIP participation at Board meeting where Assessment Report is presented

  • Appoint a PIP “Point Committee”
  • Hold Board meeting to discuss Annual Fund Raising Program Plan & Long-Range Resource Development strategies
  • Send Board members & Executive Director to PIP Workshops
