Who We Are

Founded in 1991, PIP is a partnership between New Jersey's donor community and members of the New Jersey professional fundraising community and exists to strengthen the fund raising capacity of New Jersey's non-profit community. PIP, a 501(c)(3) organization, provides direct, on-site service in the form of assessment, professional consulting, training and/or mentoring in the areas of Resource Development, Volunteer Development, Planning, and Community Outreach for emerging New Jersey non-profit organizations that require assistance in these areas

PIP Names Michael J. Baker to Board of Trustees

Michael J. Baker
(April 18, 2012)  Partnership in Philanthropy (PIP) announced today the election of Michael J. Baker, CFRE, Founder & Partner, m3 Development, to its Board of Trustees. Baker was named as a trustee at PIP’s December board meeting.

At m3 Development, Mr. Baker provides capacity building consulting services to various nonprofits that include but are not limited to: capital campaigns, strategic planning, donor management, fund diversification and board development.

Prior to starting his own firm, Mr. Baker was employed in the nonprofit sector with the American Cancer Society, National Hemophilia Foundation and the Boy Scouts of America in executive level development and management positions.

Mr. Baker received a B.A. in Psychology from the State University of New York – Albany, achieved the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation and is an Eagle Scout. He is Board Member of the Marlboro Education Foundation and Board President of the Association of Fund Raising Professionals -NJ chapter. Michael resides in Marlboro, NJ with his wife and children.

PIP consultant to receive AFP's 2012 Excellence in Philanthropy Award

PIP Consultant Christine G. Brown will be honored at the AFP's 2012 Excellence in Philanthropy Awards luncheon on May 10th at the Pines Manor in Edison, NJ. She will receive the Robert F. Semple Partnership in Philanthropy Award for Consulting Excellence.

Since 2006 Ms. Brown has served as a PIP Consultant and facilitator of the PIP Leadership Development Roundtable for Executive Directors which is in its 4th year. Her PIP clients include: The Discovery Orchestra, Independence: A Family of Services and Partners for Women and Justice.

Ms. Brown has been supporting non-profit leaders and their organizations by bringing a business perspective to her passion for making a difference. As an organizational consultant, strategic planner and executive coach she has encouraged clients to look beyond what they believe is possible and imagine new possibilities for their organizations and themselves.

Ms. Brown provides executive coaching to executive directors, board leaders and senior staff. And she serves as an Interim Executive Director for organizations in transition to allow time to refocus and to recruit new leadership.

Before becoming a consultant she was the Associate Executive Director of the Fresh Air Fund in NYC for eight years and held senior level positions in the telecommunications industry for 15 years. She is a former board member of GlassRoots in Newark, NJ.
